What would you do for your startup with a slice of $1 million in prizes?
Phoenix coworking space CO+HOOTS and global startup incubator 1776 are partnering up to bring the Challenge Cup, a global pitch tournament for the most promising, world- changing startups to win cash prizes, make international connections and share their vision, to the Valley of the Sun.
The Challenge Cup 2015 will take place on November 14 at The Newton; twenty local startups will be accepted to pitch their business and vy for a slot in the regional competition then on to the global finals in Washington D.C. for a slice of the big $1 million in prizes.
“While Challenge Cup is formally a competition, I hope that our community sees it as a movement,” CO+HOOTS project coordinator Kay Transtrum said. “I hope it inspires entrepreneurs and startups in the crowd. I hope it connects entrepreneurs and serves as a networking platform. ”
This annual competition, now in its third year, spans more than 50 cities around the world. From all the cities, 135 startups will participate in nine regional competitions and whittled down to 45 startups to compete against 45 additional wildcard startups at the global finals in Washington D.C.

“More than just a competition, the Challenge Cup is a global movement to help identify the most promising startups and give them an opportunity to share their vision on a global stage,” 1776 cofounder Donna Harris said. “We can’t wait to see what Arizona has to offer.”
CO+HOOTS is also working with other local companies on the event — Seedspot, Blind Society, Coplex, StartupAZ Foundation, Local First ARIZONA, Nerdery, Stealthmode Partners, Deskhub, CEI, Hopscratch, ATI, Chandler Innovations, and Giftcard Zen.
