Venture Madness announces its sweet 16 – updated

The next round of Venture Madness brackets leaves only 16 startups who will move on to the final, live-demo portion of the competition for a chance to win their share of $50,000.
Jonathan Ariano, chairman of Invest Southwest comments on the startups, “[They] are shining examples of the entrepreneurship and innovation happening in the Southwest region right now, and the conference is going to be a great event for networking and an outstanding resource for local businesses.”
This announcement comes with more surprises as the public is invited to listen to the keynote address featuring Dave McClure, founding partner of 500 Startups, and Matthew Pittinsky, co-founder of Blackboard Inc. and CEO of Parchment.
Now for the startups:

If your bracket is still alive you’re still in the running for an Apple product; the individual with the bracket closest to the judges’ selections throughout the competition will receive a 13-inch MacBook Air, and the runner-up will win an iPad Air 2. Also, one startup can still walk away with the People’s Choice Award and $5,000 if they received the most votes to win from the online brackets, regardless of progression in the competition.
