As our parents age, the decision to place them in a care center is never easy and quite draining. Fortunately, founder of Late Living Chris Wilson saw a dire need in the caregiving industry and wanted to create a central location where people could go to make the process of finding a home for loved ones easier. Late Living provides video tours for assisted living homes and a service that makes the process virtually seamless and reassuring.
AZTB has been tracking Late Living from their launch as a venture at ASU’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation program. We have some exciting news to share from Chris.
Chris, tell us about your growth and landing the big contract!
We’ve been ramping up and hiring editors, sales people, and videographers. We’ve filmed each of the 18 Brookdale Senior Living Locations and we just inked a deal with Emeritus Senior Living (the second largest senior housing providers in the country). We have also started filming 18 Life Care Skilled Nursing Locations.
Wow! Congratulations! What are your expansion plans?
Things have been going great. We have now filmed over 120 locations in Arizona and recently filmed one in Oakland, CA. We are actually in the process of expanding right now.
How has funding been going?
We have been invited to present at the Thunderbird Angel Network dinner on the 21st and have had interest from incubator spaces and prominent members of the community.
So once expansion and funding increases, where do you hope to go?
We are planning to hold the first Senior Housing Expo that combines both education and video tours for the baby boomers currently searching for care for a loved one or who will be searching in the near future. After raising capital we plan to film 60 percent of the Arizona senior housing communities and expand into 15 major metro areas starting in Q3 of 2014.
This is such a needed service and really makes this process easier for so many people. What are users saying about it?
We are just now launching our campaigns to get users to the website and the response as been great. We are getting comments about wishing they would have had this service a long time ago.
