The enterprise software industry is projected to be a $335 billion industry. Heidi Williams, senior director of platform engineering at Box, a cloud content sharing platform for businesses, shared her experience building out products for Box and three key factors users and firms expect from the next generation of enterprise platforms.
Going mobile:
Everything is mobile and users want to be connected with the software wherever they go, Williams said. There are new customer experiences being created through mobile, she said, and a modern enterprise software platform should be geared in that direction.
Big Data:
Data means money in the tech world, and utilizing any and all data your software collects for use is one of the biggest expectations, Williams said. Many firms are already trying to analyze the data a SaaS application may be collecting-so be sure to not let that data go to waste, she emphacized.
Integration:
With so much new technology and many different types of platforms and programs out there, make sure your enterprise software works and plays well with others, Williams said. The days where an office used only Apple or Microsoft programs are long gone with integration. Software needs to be seamless with itself and other products, Williams said.
