A hammock swaying on the patio with a view of Camelback Mountain, steps away from Scottsdale Fashion Square and 17,000 square-feet filled with buzzing entrepreneurs describes the new DeskHub, a co-working space that opened in Scottsdale.
Jay Chernikoff, a serial entrepreneur, founded DeskHub with the desire to attract thriving entrepreneurs from a wide range of industries to build a collaborative community in Scottsdale.
“You could be in the digital media or cement business, it doesn’t matter- but we want you contributing to the community and lending yourself to the community. We want people to be a part of that collaborative community.”
DeskHub is the largest co-working space in Maricopa county and will house 100 desks, 20 offices, one to two office areas for flex desks, pods, training areas for presentations, and of course a kitchen filled with snacks and drinks. Did I mention the gorgeous view of Camelback Mountain from multiple patios that can be used for entertaining, relaxing or meetings?
While many service providers utilize Regis office spaces, Chernikoff said, DeskHub offers more of a community feel. “We are really focused on facilitating 3 to 10 person companies. We want people to feel like they are part of this Phoenix startup culture and they can collaborate with their colleagues in a way that isn’t available [at those locations,]” he continued.
In an effort to create more of a tight-knit community, DeskHub doesn’t allow drop-ins. “We are interested in creating a community and focused on our members, and not collecting ten dollars,” Chernikoff said.
Chernikoff will open two additional DeskHub locations in San Diego (early April) and Atlanta (mid-February).
To get this co-working space up and running, Chernikoff has received an undisclosed amount angel funding from co-founder and Chairman of StockTwits Howard Lindzon and local angels. Lindzon intends to house his StockTwits business at the San Diego location.

“I am excited to invest in strong entrepreneurs like Jay Chernikoff and in businesses that can change how people work and interact, whether in the virtual or physical world. So much of my career and business is around personal connections, I wanted to be part of encouraging others to work in these types of environments. I am excited that the StockTwits team will be working from the DeskHub San Diego space,” Lindzon said.
Chernikoff brought on Gabe Gasca as his community liaison to help members with day-to-day needs and build the culture at DeskHub. Membership for DeskHub starts at $300 per month which includes amenities such as conference rooms, Internet, printing, plenty of coffee and more.
