Two years ago we wrote about a new display technology that vastly changed the way we view our televisions. 4K televisions and 4K video content quickly took over the technology world and now it looks like it’s here to stay.
Today at CES, Sony went full 4K. The tech giant unveiled new “objects of sensation” like their 4K cameras, 4K TVs, and high-resolution speakers.
Sony brought out all the stops when showcasing their newest 4K-enabled camera. Seamlessly displayed across a huge projection screen, beautiful images captured with the A7R II captivated the Sony audience. From low light environments to pictures with mass amounts of bright light, the A7R II can capture stunning photos in its compact design. Boasting 42 megapixels and 25x optical zoom, the A7R II has the ability to retain shadow detail and has exceptional sharpness and color. Improved image quality and reduced noise make for a stunning photo, and with a 5 directional microphone, sound quality is optimal. You can purchase this bad boy for a whopping $3,200 available now.
Sony then showed off its newest headphones; the h.ear on wireless headphones and the h.ear in wireless earbuds. Both models provide hi-resolution audio capability while maintaining comfort and design. The h.ear on headphones and the h.ear in earbuds will be available in the Spring.
Panasonic wasn’t the only tech giant to unveil a high-resolution turntable. Sony came on board and revealed their high-fidelity USB turntable that can convert records into digital high-resolution audio files that can be played on any device.
The hot topic for television at CES this year was the UHD Alliance. The Alliance determines which TVs will be certified as “premium” and Sony was pleased to announce that the group certified every single one of their TVs. Sony unveiled their new flagship 4K HDR models, the 75-inch XBR-X940D Series and the 55-inch and 65-inch XBR-X930D Series. With a slim backlight drive, borderless design and clean cable management, Sony’s 4K HDR TVs boast deeper blacks and finer shadow details to provide the user with the ideal 4K viewing experience.
Last but not least, Sony mentioned the new ULTRA App. The app will be available on Sony’s new Android-compatible television sets and will give the user the ability to buy or stream 4K content directly from the television.
