If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at video game developing, now is your chance.
Video game incubator Game CoLab announced that its program will continue after they received a second economic development grant from the City of Phoenix.
“We’re hoping to incubate at least four teams who have the passion and drive to start a video game company, get their game out and build a sustainable business,” founder and CEO Ben Reichert said. “The local game industry needs more visibility and we hope to inspire the growing number of game developers to pursue their passion, build awesome games and engage people.”
The third incubator class will start on September 9 and run through February 2016. The teams will be given a space to work, classes, demonstration and pitching events, and networking opportunities.
“Our executive team, board of directors and a few mentors will be involved with evaluating the teams,” Reichert said.

Game CoLab has over 30 industry mentors including Sony, THQ, Blizzard Activision and more. The incubator participants will have access to these mentors as well as “office hours” with leaders.
“We’ve made it our mission to elevate the game development community in Arizona. The City of Phoenix continues to be a key partner in this mission. At the beginning of 2014 we launched the Game CoLab Incubator program with the support of a City of Phoenix Community Development Block Grant,” Reichert said.
Game CoLab was founded in 2013 by Reichert as a video game incubator program and community.
Anyone interested in applying for the 2015 program can do so through Game CoLab’s website here. Game CoLab is open to ideas at any stage, according to Reichert. The deadline to submit an application is September 4.
