Five floors, 135,000 square feet and 1,000 employees are some of the astonishing numbers Zenefits included in their latest expansion announcement.
The free, cloud-based human resources technology company is opening its second greater Phoenix area office at Tempe Hayden Ferry Lakeside complex this fall. Zenefits decided to expand due to its rapid growth and hiring frenzy and will take over five floors of the building to house over 1,000 employees.
The company already has 600 employees in its Scottsdale office, which opened last November, and plans to add more jobs in areas such as, HR specialists, sales representatives, account managers and executives, marketing, and client support staff.

Vice President of Corporate Development and Business Operations Mark Woolway told AZTB, Zenefits decided to further expand in Arizona because, “We’ve found the greater Phoenix area to be a very robust talent pool. We have a lot of hiring needs in order to meet the incredible customer demand for Zenefits, and the greater Phoenix area is a perfect place to expand.”
In May 2015, Zenefits raised $500 million in a Series C round of funding led by Fidelity Management and Research Company and TPG-putting their valuation at $4.5 billion. The raise was targeted for expansion and building out new features for their customers.

Speaking of features, the company recently released two new ones, Zenefits for Managers which gives managers more administrative control to make changes to employee records, such as title changes or pay grade, instead of waiting for HR, and Business Intelligence reports that gives managers real-time insight into important HR statistics like headcount, compensation, turnover and more.

In 2013, CEO and co-founder Parker Conrad and co-founder Laks Srini set out to reduce the mounds of paperwork found in HR departments and automated the entire process.
“With small businesses across the country wanting to take the HR headaches out of managing their companies, the demand for our HR automation software is off the charts,” Conrad said. “With this fast growth, we need more people to join our team – and a place to put them. We are delighted that we found such a great space here in Arizona.”

GPEC president and CEO Chris Camacho commented on the expansion, “The leadership demonstrated within the greater Phoenix region from leaders such as Phoenix City Council member Kate Gallego and Mayor Greg Stanton, Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane, and Tempe Mayor Mark Mitchell, is to be celebrated as we welcome the expansion of one of the fastest growing tech companies.”
