Draper University offering scholarships to Arizona entrepreneurs

Accelerated entrepreneurship bootcamp Draper University (DU) is partnering with Hool Coury Law to offer six scholarships to Arizona startup entrepreneurs to attend DU in the fall semester.
“We look forward to providing the best Silicon Valley experience to entrepreneurs in the Arizona ecosystem,” said Carol Lo Jillson, the Chief Operating Officer of DU. “We are pleased to offer the DU experience through this partnership as DU continues to expand its unique curriculum and experience to the brightest young entrepreneurs around the world.”
The scholarships will consist of two currently unannounced recipients and four more scholarships to startups from the Arizona Collegiate Venture Competition.
“We are incredibly excited to be partnering with DU to bring this opportunity to young Arizona entrepreneurs” Founding Partner of Hool Law Group, Michael Hool said. “From our side of the equation, the partnership provides our best entrepreneurs a Silicon Valley experience that can be used back here in Arizona. The goal is to have the DU alums return to Arizona with once-in-a-lifetime practical learning and connectivity to the broad variety of funding and other resources [provided by] Draper.”

“This is an opportunity for Arizona entrepreneurs,” Hool said. “At the same time, this partnership brings greater exposure in the international tech press to our ecosystem as a breeding ground for innovative startups.”
Draper University was founded by venture capitalist Tim Draper and offers a seven week program for entrepreneurs that combines lectures, activities, and networking. The program ends with a pitch competition in Silicon Valley.
Since opening, DU has over 300 alumni and over 150 startups have emerged from the program. Collectively, the startups have raised over $15 million in capital to date. Some notable alumni have included Michael Lisovetsky, co-founder of HomeSwipe and Brian Friedman, CEO of Loopd.
For those that watch the HBO hit show Silicon Valley, there is another startup show on the way. ABC Family will launch their reality show “Startup U” and follow 40 DU students that run through the program, as reported by SF Gate.
