When choosing a new site for the Girls in Tech Catalyst Conference, founder and CEO Adriana Gascoigne settled on Phoenix as their first conference outside of Silicon Valley because of the thriving tech community found in Arizona. Influential women from around the world came out in droves to downtown Phoenix to attend the conference dedicated to encouraging young women to join the STEM ecosystem.
Gascoigne, Phoenix Mayor Stanton and Curator of Code at Axosoft, Tania Katan, spoke at the kick off press conference. “Our vibrancy is at the heart of our city. [We are] grateful for the opportunity to host [Girls in Tech],” said Stanton.
Porter Gale gave a keynote speech that focused on identifying and harnessing your self-worth. Author of Your Network is Your Net Worth gave invaluable tips on how to hone in on your purpose and what value you bring to the table.
Heidi Williams of Box, a cloud content sharing platform for businesses, emphasized in her keynote the 3 must do’s for the next generation of enterprise software.
Storage group vice president and general manager at Intel Bev Crair encouraged the audience of tech women to reach out to young girls; inspire and encourage young women to seek out a STEM education.
Powered by Axosoft, the conference sparked an international conversation because of Axosoft’s inspiring marketing campaign, #ItWasNeverADress. With plugs in notable publications like BuzzFeed and HuffingtonPost, the viral campaign shifts perceptions of women in any industry.
