Ready, set, go! TiE startup pitch event rapidly approaches

Startups, start your engines! TiE Arizona’s Rapid Fire Pitch event is almost here, where fledgling businesses will have two minutes to pitch their ideas in front of an industry panel and live audience.
Applications for the event were open until last week. Only 15 startups will be selected from that pool of entrants to pitch their ideas at the Oct. 21 event.
Of those 15 companies, a select few will be able to pitch at the 2015 TiE AZ Venture Capital Event. The top presenter will be automatically entered into Venture Madness, which pits 64 startups against each other in a tournament bracket.
“TiE AZ has been holding the Rapid Fire Pitch event for over a decade, it has really become part of fabric of AZ’s entrepreneurial eco-system,” said Robert Wallace, president of TiE Arizona. “It is a terrific showcase of promising startups in the region, and is hopefully a springboard to getting these concepts off the ground.”

Last year’s winner was SiO2 Nanotech, which pitched an idea to help defog lenses and other surfaces, with particular emphasis on eye surgery. This year’s group of presenters promises to be just as interesting and diverse.
“We have a great mix of companies this year – different types of technology, different industries, and different stages of growth,” Wallace said. “They can expect a fast-paced and fun atmosphere where they can expose their company to a lot of people and get terrific feedback. Being able to give an overview of your company in just two minutes is a challenge. But it is an invaluable skill for these companies as they look for customers, partners, and investors.”
The presenters will be announced Oct. 14. Learn more about TiE Arizona here.
