Six cool tech places to work in Arizona

Back in June, AZ Tech Beat and Axosoft were featured on ABC’s show The List as one of Arizona’s coolest places to work. Inspired by the piece, we decided to put together a list of our own. These spots offer awesome benefits and sprinkle the workplace with lots of extras to keep employees happy, healthy and loving their jobs. Here are six tech cos. that stand out.

The Internet domain registrar and web hosting company wants its employees to feel appreciated for the work they put in by offering a huge list of goodies. GoDaddy’s productive workspace lets employees grow their creativity with collaborative meeting areas, TVs, bean bag chairs and whiteboard walls. Here’s a snapshot of what else they offer:
-Offsite team building events. Past activities have included river-rafting, Segway rides and Go Karts.
-On-site events and contests. They’ve hosted GoDaddy’s Got Talent, Dunk Tanks and Ice Cream Socials.
-Flexible time off. As long as work gets done, exempt employees can take off as much time as they need no matter how long they’ve been at the company.
-Subsidized on-site meals. GoDaddy accommodates low-calorie, gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan diets. Plus, free drinks and snacks are always in the kitchen.
-Tuition reimbursement & professional development programs. The first offers employees $5,250 a year toward earning a degree in higher education while the latter provides education assistance for business purposes or to improve current skills.

Phoenix’s WebPT is a web-based provider of electronic medical records (EMR) for physical therapists. Employees enjoy on site dry cleaning and car wash services, but the company’s best feature? WebPT’s Alive program. The year-round program encourages employees to make healthy life choices. It includes:
-Annual Biggest Loser Challenge. The year starts with WebPT’s popular fitness challenge. Prizes have included a free trip to Puerto Vallarta for the winner and his family.
-Spring Carnival. The second quarter kicks off focusing on mental well-being. Employees and family come to Encanto Park for games and healthy food. The quarter ends with on-site massages.
-Farm-fresh veggies. Quarter three, focuses on environmental wellness and sustainability with WebPT’s indoor garden and a free FarmBox from Sunizona Farms filled with fresh vegetables.
-Employee-led clubs and teams: WebPT covers uniforms and league registration fees for their hoops and softball programs, and clubs like their women’s empowerment group PropelHer meets there on a regular basis.
-Company-sponsored events. They’ve included Wild Canyon Games (a three-day adventure race) and Susan G Komen Race for the Cure 5K.

The advertising and marketing firm designed every aspect of their new 14,000 square foot offices to spark creativity, team growth and innovative thinking:
-Inspiring work environment. Dry erase boards cover the walls, and their open work spaces and nine meeting areas encourage collaboration and creativity within the team.
-Break areas. There are pool tables, an arcade and giant Jenga games for employees to take much needed rest.
-High-tech building. A 16 foot-wide media display wall highlights the agencies campaigns and results, and there’s a custom 30 terabyte storage area network with real-time off-site backups.
-Fun events. Food from Florida Stone Crab has been flown in for picnics, there are company lake days, and holiday parties have been held at one of Arizona’s five diamond restaurants.
-Relaxed environment. There’s an office dog, snacks and drinks in the kitchen, weekly office happy hours with in-house keg options and “stress-free” office hours to fit anyone’s schedule.

The producer of the number one selling SCRUM software is located in North Scottsdale and is no stranger to fun in the workplace. Employees are advised to always be on standby for Nerf gun wars, and elaborate pranks are usually plotted in secrecy. Here’s what else they offer:
-Fitness classes: Axosoft employees enjoy 10 free classes a week including yoga and boot camp at their on-site gym and showering facilities.
-Yummy food: Lunch is catered twice a week, and the cupboards and fridge are always stocked with free snacks and beverages.
-Collaborative work environment: No cubicles means all team members have access to everyone.
-Gaming area: When employees need a break, they can chill out with board games, Xbox or any other of their game consoles.

The Chandler-based company offers an environment to keep employees reaching for their goals, inside and outside of work. On top of keeping everyone healthy with a fitness center and on-site showers, Infusionsoft helps their team make their lives better with the following:
-Dream Manager. Infusionsoft hired a full-time Dream Manager in 2012 to help employees plan their dreams—from getting out of debt to writing a book—and make them happen.
-Dream Room. The rooms purpose is to let employees get away and focus on building those dreams.
-Leadership Academy. People leaders spend two days offsite developing leadership skills, and full time employees spend an ongoing 105 hours of employee-led development courses. Class topics can range from money management to personal growth.
-Game room/recreational room. They’re filled with foosball tables, a pool table, massage chairs, Xbox and more. -Cereal Bar. There are dozens of cereals in stock to choose from along with all types of dairy and nondairy milk. Pop-Tarts and smoothie essentials are also on hand.

The appointment scheduling software company keeps their employees happy with health-conscious perks:
-Wellness Program Reimbursement:  employees get $150 each month to put toward health club memberships.
-Nutritionist and personal trainer on staff.
-Kid’s Day. Every Friday during the summer, kids have fun with games and have lunch and slushees.
-Sweet celebrations. There are celebratory ice cream socials and chocolate covered strawberries and catered lunches.
-Bagels on Bob (B.O.B). Provided every Friday for team meetings.

  4. I work for a tempe based company named Picmonic, and it should definitely be on this list! I’ve worked here for a little over 2 years and it has been a blast. We also have our office nerf guns, everyone brings their dogs, BBQs, Monday morning team breakfasts and the list goes on!
