Desarrollo opens co-working space in the heart of Tempe tech

Desarrollo has found a new home in Tempe with a bigger location to better serve the growing tech community.
They were previously housed within Infusionsoft but the tech incubator was looking to expand and open a co-working space, and saw it as an opportunity to go out on their own. They’re now situated in the old Terralever space located on the buzzing corner of Fifth Street and Mill Avenue. This location is right in the heart of ASU and near Hayden Ferry Lakeside housing tech giants Google, Microsoft and Silicon Valley Bank.
“I think the location is huge being here close to the university with so much going on,” said Gabriel Gasca, VP of Communications and Business Development Desarrollo. “Mill Avenue is just exploding and really changing quite a bit.”

The team sees their co-working space as a great opportunity for businesses to network with others and draw inspiration from those around them.
“We’re looking for tech startups, tech companies anywhere from 3-6 employees who are growing and want to get involved with the community and really have the resources literally around them as they’re working,” said Desarrollo Founder David Rice.

The Desarrollo team is actively working on filling the empty space with lots of furniture, workstations and a bar.
Aside from being a place to work, Rice said Desarrollo’s goal is to create a community that will provide opportunities for each other and allow businesses to eventually outgrow the space.
“That’s our goal. We don’t want to keep them here forever,” Rice said. “We want them to grow up and start hiring and start being part of the ecosystem that’s out there.”
