Athlinks, the largest online results database for endurance races, has been acquired by Chronotrack, a provider of race solutions for race organizers and timing partners.
Both companies hope to extend their current services and help combine contacts so that racers can connect with each other as well as race directors. By tapping into Chronotrack’s network, with over 200 timing partners, it improves the ability to reach race directors while accelerating the delivery of results management and data driven solutions that will, in turn, benefit these race directors.
CEO, Dave Remick, of Chronotrack states, “We look forward to creating new athlete services and helping race directors manage their races with products like corralling tools, race series management, interactive results solutions and more.” They also plan on continuing and expanding the social networking of racing so racers can continue to connect and engage with other athletes.
Athlinks is located in Chandler, Arizona, and was founded in 2005 by Troy Busot to meet his own marathon needs-putting his race results online instead of a spreadsheet. Since then, Athlinks database provides their customers a profile page with race history, social engagement, race strategy and connects racers with resources (mentors, gear heads, etc.). Athlinks also adds results from several thousand endurance races including running, triathlon, swimming, cycling, and mountain biking. They have built their reputation by compiling a database of over 100 million race results and adding over 2 million more each month.
With the merger, Busot hopes to continue and extend their success “We look forward to working through Chronotrack’s timing partners as well as continuing to work directly with the endurance industry.” Busot said.
