Ten finalists were announced today for the bi-annual Arizona Innovation Challenge held by the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA). This time around 131 companies applied from Arizona, California, Ohio, Utah and Virginia. It was whittled down to 25 semifinalists in October and now to the top 10.
This is the biggest challenge in Arizona and the ACA provides $3 million in grants annually – $1.5 million in the spring and $1.5 million in the fall – to early-stage companies. Each company is vying for a chance to win up to $250,000 in grant money to grow their businesses.
The 10 finalists are as follows:
Allbound – A software-as-a-service Partner Sales Acceleration solution that helps businesses realize more revenue from indirect sales partners through technology
Beacon Biomedical – A medical diagnostic device that provides easy, accurate and affordable blood tests for earlier cancer detection
BeckonCall – An on-call communications app designed by doctors for doctors
ClearVoice – A content marketing platform that helps connect brands, publishers and writers via an authorship scoring system
GRVTY – A multi-factor authentication app that allows users to login to the web without a password
Omedix – An internet-based solution for physician practices and healthcare companies for patient engagement including a patient portal and medical websites
Paraffin International – A company with a wax treatment called gLOVE Treat that treats dry, ageing hands and feet to help those suffering from skin and joint conditions
Smart Clinic – A mobile app for patient experience and engagement
SolarThermiX – An eco-friendly energy company that boosts natural energy through their cost-effective, renewable energy technology
The Medical Memory – A company that bridges the gap between physician communication and patient comprehension by providing convenient methods of recording medical conversations
