Bear Down everyone, technology from Tucson was in the spotlight tonight at the Arizona Technology Council 2015 Governor’s Celebration of Innovation Awards.
In conjunction with the Arizona Commerce Authority, the AZ Tech Council (AZTC) presented innovator awards to technology companies with scientific breakthroughs and algorithms that will make your head spin.
In a previous announcement, the AZTC announced individual/company award winners for their contribution to the community and more. Here are those winners:
OneNeck IT Services People’s Choice Lifetime Achievement Award: Michael Crow, ASU president
Wiliam F. McWhortor Community Service Leader of the Year: Thomas Curzon
Ed Denison Business Leader of the Year: Alexi Venneri, Digital Air Strike
Pioneering Award: Raytheon Missile Systems
Judge’s Award: Arizona State University Biodesign Institute, Zmapp
Now for the Innovation of the Year Awards…
SinfoniaRX – Tucson – Innovator of the Year – Startup. This company was founded in 2006 at the UA College of Pharmacy. They are known for pioneering modern Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services. They are recognized for their customizable algorithms that can turn medical data into timely interventions to reduce healthcare costs and build healthier communities.
GuardVant – Tucson – Innovator of the year – small company. This company is a mining technology supplier that develop solutions to improve safety and productivity of mining plant, port and transportation operations worldwide. Their product line includes, monitoring driver fatigue and distraction through 3D head and movement recognition, collision avoidance, and on-board hardware and displays.
Medtronic – Tempe – Innovator of the year – large company. With a mission of “contributing to human welfare by the application of biomedical engineering to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life,” this company was recognized for its world-class microelectronics manufacturing that produces components for implantable medical devices. Medtronic pioneered the use of electrical stimulation to treat irregular heart rates and continues to develop more health tech.
Tech Launch Arizona – University of Arizona – Tucson – Innovator of the Year – Academia. This entity at UA is designed to build connections between entrepreneurs and investors and UA faculty, inventors and researchers. Tech Launch’s vision is to be known as a resource for commercializing UA-created knowledge and invention for the public and economic good.
Jerry Proctor, SES-COL, US Army (Ret.), JVP Strategic Consulting, LLC – Chairman’s Award. Proctor recently retired from the U.S. Army with 40 years of military and civilian senior executive service. He was recently elected to the AZTC board.
