Tech companies flock to the Valley of the Sun

Arizona has proven itself to be at the forefront of technology innovation and out-of-state companies have taken notice. Numerous companies have recently expanded their operations and opened up offices in the Valley of the Sun because of our thriving technology ecosystem, low cost of living, and high quality of life. Here are the tech companies that expanded to Arizona from January 2015 and now call the Grand Canyon state home.

Revel Systems, a San Francisco-based iPad point-of-sale provider, announced their expansion to Scottsdale and adding 160 new jobs over the next three years. The Revel mantra is to empower merchants by providing a complete end-to-end commerce platform that can fit any size of business. Their systems can be found in enterprise food service and retail companies, such as Dairy Queen and Goodwill, all the way down to the local food truck or coffee shop, and are compatible with Apple Pay and PayPal.

The San Francisco-based company officially announced their expansion to the Valley of the Sun. The company is geared up and expanding their team of couriers to bring customers just about anything from a local store or restaurant to their door within the hour.

San Francisco-based Opendoor, a service that allows homeowners to instantly sell their home online, is looking to help alleviate a seller’s headache by purchasing their home and streamlining a 90-day or more closing process into as little as three days. Opendoor expands operations to the Grand Canyon state with the help of a $20 million raise.

Boomtown an on-demand tech support company for small- to medium-sized businesses has expanded its operations to the Valley from the Bay Area. Boomtown co-founder & head of operations Paul Wyer said, “They selected Phoenix as a place to expand operational support because the Valley is a hub for rapidly growing startup and enterprise businesses, and the resources here are highly valued.”

Austin-based social media and content marketing platform, OutboundEngine, has expanded to Old Town Scottsdale bringing 60 new jobs over the next year. CEO of OutboundEngine Branndon Stewart said he chose Arizona and more specifically Scottsdale because, “Arizona has a friendly business climate and is an easy flight from our headquarters in Austin.

San-Francisco-based Beepi, a leading peer-to-peer marketplace that allows customers to seamlessly buy and sell their car from the comfort of their home, chose Phoenix as their first expansion city outside of California.

Mobile health company Gobiquity has developed the first pediatric vision diagnostic mobile app, GoCheck Kids, that enables physicians to test for Amblyopia “lazy eye” and other risk factors for children six months to six years old, and in seconds, results are displayed on the mobile app. The California-based MedTech company is relocating all operations and employees to the Cure Corridor of Scottsdale.

New York City-based Booker, an all-in-one service commerce platform, has expanded to Scottsdale and ready to help small businesses streamline daily tasks and sell their services online. CEO and co-founder Josh McCarter said to AZTB they attribute their growth to the adoption of cloud computing by enterprise and SMB clients, consumer demand for purchasing services online, their mobile interface from both SMB merchants and consumers, and expansion to new markets.
