Code for America hosting Open Data Roadshow Sept. 4th

Could the government benefit from enabling open data? Next month, this will be the hot topic at Code for America’s Open Data Roadshow. Local government officials, city managers, technologists, area experts and open data evangelists will have a chance to put their noggins to work to help their community and brainstorm ideas about open data.
Code for America is an organization that “envisions a government that works by the people, for the people” and aims to improve the relationships between the people and their government.
The event will be chock-full of open data panels, presentations, and workshops all aimed at getting the conversation started about open data best practices and resources, as well as troubleshooting how government staff can pursue open data within their own agencies.
Tony Heinrichs, PE Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Infrastructure/Public Works City of San Diego, found the event beneficial for participating cities, “I thought the open data roadshow was very informative and inspirational! I thoroughly enjoyed it and wish all the best for Code for American in future endeavors.”
The event is free to the public and Code for America encourages everyone to attend to learn about the concept, values, and opportunities of open data.
