Mashable’s worldwide celebration Social Media Day is making its way to back to Phoenix (#SMDayPhx) Saturday, June 28, for an evening that will leave you knee deep in tweets, selfies and LinkedIn requests stuffing your inbox.
You’ll get the chance to sip cocktails and cool off with frozen treats alongside social media experts, enthusiasts and companies that live and breathe through social media platforms.
Past years events have jazzed up the celebrations with a carnival, photo booth ops, and swag from sponsors like Mashable and Foursquare, along with workshops to boost your social media know-how.
This year’s new Director MoniQue “Q” Shaldjian, owner of Phoenix-based social media management company, QtheBrand, says this year will be more exciting, streamlined and focused on community gathering, an aspect past event’s haven’t focused on.
Before the evening’s blowout begins at 8 p.m., SMDayPhx will have a night of panel discussions starting at 6:30 p.m. that will teach you about the pitfalls of social media fails, how to advertise through social media like an expert, and legal handlings about intellectual property use.
And an evening of social media talk wouldn’t be complete without an opportunity for networking. Everyone will be able to easily identify each other by a color coded sticker on their name tag dividing them into categories, including networking, social media managers, companies that utilize social media and social media users and fans.
Last year’s global event was the largest to date. From Morocco to Costa Rica, more than 100 countries and 17 U.S. cities took part in the event. There were over 650 attendees in New York City alone, and fittingly made its presence known on social media with 118,000 tweets using the hashtag #SMDay and 52 million social impressions.
