Tallwave has partnered with the city of Avondale to create a training course for health care and technology entrepreneurs.
The Avondale Venture Blueprint is a 12-week course that will teach entrepreneurs how to launch, grow and sustain their businesses.
“As Avondale is building our health care and technology sectors, we understand the need to support small business start-ups in this area,” said Avondale Mayor Marie Lopez Rogers. “We want to grow from within, and create an environment that fosters innovative thinking.”
The courses will be held on Tuesday evenings from March 18 to June 3 at Avondale City Hall. Participants will be chosen from a pool of candidates. Applications for the program are due March 1. Applicants do not need to be from Avondale to apply.
Rick Gibson, managing director of HOTventures will be heading the program.
“Using lean methodology and design thinking, Avondale’s Venture Blueprint from Tallwave provides the structure that an early stage venture can map their growth to,” Gibson said. “As an entrepreneur and an investor, it’s rewarding to have a hand in the robust training and strategic energy that will help startups beat the 98 percent failure rate and bring more fund ready companies to market faster.”
Tallwave calls itself a “commercializer,” that helps startups build value and grow quickly. It works closely with Valley health care IT brands like Mayo Clinic, Humana and Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
Healthcare and IT entrepreneurs interested in learning more about the program can visit the website or contact Cheryl Covert at 623-333-1413, or ccovert@avondale.org.
