3D printed sugar cubes for your coffee

What could be better than regular 3D printing? Printing something that you can eat! CES visitors were the first to get a taste of edible goodies produced by 3D Systems’ ChefJet series of 3D printers. The company launched an entirely new, kitchen-ready 3D printer category for edibles. These printers are the perfect addition to any professional kitchen and even come with a digital cookbook for easy instructions.

The regular ChefJet 3D printer is the first in the series and prints a delicious sugar and water combination of ingredients in black and white and the printable ingredients come in various flavors, including chocolate, vanilla, mint, sour apple, cherry and watermelon. The printer is expected to be available in the second half of 2014 and will be priced in the sub $5,000 range.

The ChefJet Pro 3D printer, on the other hand, is a full-color, larger format printer. Flavors include chocolate, vanilla, mint, sour apple, cherry and watermelon, all of which can be printed in full-color. This printer is capable of printing the same shapes as the regular ChefJet, but uses food coloring as the printer ink and can print much more complex and intricate patterns. Print out anything from small patterns and shapes to perfect cake toppers for a wedding or other event! ChefJet Pro is expected to be available in the second half of 2014 and will be priced in the sub $10,000 range.
