Xplore, crash, snaps, apps and celebrate – 17 SEED SPOT Cohorts present at Demo Day

On December 11, seventeen cohorts took the stage for SEED SPOT Demo Day for a chance to win cash prizes and other resources to help build their business.
The Cohorts gave three-minute pitches at the Orpheum theater to a room filled with investors, mentors, educators, CEOs and friends and family from around the state.
Prizes up for grabs included over $42,000 in cash prizes, free office space, a trip to the DEMO conference in San Francisco, web development services and a full-day of mentoring and assistance from the WEBPT team. As part of the event, an audience-vote determined which cohort would receive a $5,000 cash prize.

Box play for kids – Eco-friendly stickers that help repurpose your recyclables into fun and creative toys. This cohort has won the Best+Child Best New Product Awards by NY Now Lifestyle and has been recognized in InStyle and Parents magazine. *Winner $1,000 from ASU School of Global Institute of Sustainability
AguaSAC – Aims to create jobs for adults with developmental disabilities. They’ve accomplished this by developing a collapsible reusable and recyclable water pouch that can be used as a promotional product and employs adults from this population to file, label and distribute the AguaSAC to businesses.
IHHS – Create individualized, HIPPA compliant mobile applications for healthcare providers in order to enhance the patient/provider relationship. Features of the app include helping providers communicate with their patients, prior to, during and after a visit, coordinate care through real-time push notifications and access to personal records through a mobile device or web. GuardianNPX – A natural alternative solution for killing head lice and can be treated in 15 minutes. The active ingredients are FDA approved plant extracts. For every bottle purchased the company will donate a bottle to a charity or an at risk kid. *Winner $2,000 from ASU School of Global Institute of Sustainability
Crashpad – A mobile application that helps hotels & resorts stay connected with their guests by providing them real-time suggestions to local hot spots, events, tours and more through their smartphone.
The Manifesto Project – This organizations seeks to place young leaders in Arizona on local boards and connect them with influential leaders in the space. At the event, they announced they were awarded the silver medal for the National Civic Data Challenge.
Celebrate Autism – An online entrepreneurship training program designed for adults diagnosed with autism – they also help those promote and sell their products through the Celebrate Autism website. *Winner $25,000 cash prize
OSAKA Sun Blendery – Organic smoothies and energy shakes aimed to boost mental energy, immune systems and a healthy lifestyle.
Roster Recharge – Team management software designed to help coaches keep track of their athlete’s progress in school and training. Athletes can use these reports for recruiting efforts and earn prizes such as swag to professional game tickets for reaching their goals. Thus far, Roster Recharge has signed on 13 high schools, 120+ football teams, and developed relationships with Gatorade and AZ Cardinals.
S.O.U.N.D.S. – A non-profit music education program geared toward underprivileged population where local musicians donate their time to teach children to play music. *Audience favorite and winner of $5,000 cash prize…snap twice for music education.
TRUVOTE – An non-partisan, online platform that connects voters to their politicians. *Winner of a full-day, all access to WEBPT brainpower.
Q APPROVED – An online and in-person food allergy training and certification program for food handlers – it’s time for restaurants to become Q Approved.
XPLOREBOX – Subscription-based STEM-based project in a box for kids 7-12 years delivered to your home each month. Introduce your kids to a new science project each month. *Winner of a trip to DEMO conference in San Francisco and six months free office space at SEED SPOT.
HEROES FOR STUDENTS – An online database that matches role models/guest speakers to classrooms.
TOURKIDD – Developed by musicians for musicians-an online resource to help independent musicians, book shows, review venues and build a following and community.
PROCTOR.IO – A fully automated, remote secure proctoring site for online college classes.
LOTUS WEI – Developed plant-based elixirs, aromatic mists and oils. They have received national recognition for their products from Dr. Andrew Weil and Oprah
