Amazon.com, the online shopping store, announced that they are hiring 70,000 full-time seasonal workers around the U.S. to fill orders during the holiday seasons, and thousands of jobs will become available at their Arizona fulfillment center.
An Amazon.com spokeswoman stated that they predict thousands of Arizona jobs will transfer from temporary to long-term in 2014. Just in 2013, Amazon converted 7,000 temporary positions to long-term.
“We love being a member of the Phoenix community, there is tremendous talent here and the employees are valued,” she said.
Amazon is the world’s largest online retailer and seen a 40 percent increase in employee hires since last year. Seasonal employees at Amazon.com order fulfillment centers are eligible for health care benefits and, on average, earn 94 percent of the wages of regular employees.
