Synapse workshop attracts medtech startups – Sept 17-19

Medtech venture capitalist and strategic consultant firm MediCoventures will hold a 3-day workshop to help 10 attendees learn, build, and measure their medtech startup. Participants will go in with an idea, and walk out with a product.

“We love creating medical startups. This is what we know and what we have done our entire careers,” Partner at MediCoventures Aaron Call. “Synapse is a way for us to share our knowledge and to continue to grow the medtech startup scene.”

Ten applicants with ideas for medical devices were chosen to attend. The event will be from September 17-19 at the Center for Entrepreneurial Innovation in Phoenix.

“Starting a medical technology company requires a strong network of expertise,” Kelvin Ning, a partner at MediCoventures, said. “Developing a core competency network from scratch is not only inefficient, it is nearly impossible. Synapse is a great start to establishing that network.”

Speakers at the workshop include partners at MediCoventures, Michael Hool of Hool Coury Law, cofounders of Excelsius Surgical, and Hart Shafer of Lean Startup amongst others.

“As a business incubator, we are thrilled to host the Synapse workshop because it allows CEI to continue to strengthen ties with entrepreneurs in the medical device community,” Jeff Saville, Managing Director at CEI. “This intensive workshop has become another tremendous resource that will further contribute to the broader development, commercialization and growth of medical technologies.”

CEI is a Phoenix-based incubator that has supported technology-based businesses since 2006.
