Phoenix-based DriveTime Automotive Group, the nation’s largest used car dealer and financing company, plans to hire 650 full-time employees in Arizona over the next 12 months and dozens of IT professionals, according to the company.

To house all of these employees, they are building a new corporate headquarters in Tempe, AZ, at the new Liberty Center at Rio Salado, and slated to open in November.

Currently the company has 130 people as part of their IT team and are expanding their employee base to integrate tech into every aspect of their infrastructure including, web-based apps, customer-facing retail and employee internal systems and managing the company’s online properties.

DriveTime was named one of the 2015 Best Places to Work in IT by IDG’s Computerworld. The list ranks the 100 top organizations that challenge their IT staffs while providing great benefits and compensation. DriveTime is the first organization in Arizona to be ranked in the top 100 by Computerworld in the past several years.

“We are all grateful to be recognized by Computerworld as a great place to work and I credit every employee we have to cultivating such an innovative IT culture,” said Paul Kaplan, Chief Information Officer, SVP at DriveTime.

“Technology runs through every part of our company. It enables our employees to provide world-class customer service to hundreds of thousands of customers each year. Our constant innovation and desire to architect new solutions keeps us at the forefront of our industry, but also creates a constant demand for brilliant developers and technology pioneers,” said Kaplan.
