Justin Timberlake turns techpreneur and co-owner of Scottsdale's AfterMaster Audio Labs

Tucked away in the Scottsdale Airpark, a group of engineers utilize cutting-edge software to bring texture, shape and clarity to the recordings of some of the top artists in the world. Taylor Swift, Michael Jackson and U2, among other Grammy Award Winning artists, are just some of the artists who use the AfterMaster software-audio technology developed for mastering, re-mastering and processing of audio recordings.
Today, AfterMaster Audio Labs, a subsidiary of Studio One Media, announced that Justin Timberlake is a co-owner in the company. Justin will play an integral role as AfterMaster prepares its launch into the marketplace, providing revolutionary technology and sound to the digital audio processing world.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of this groundbreaking company,” says Justin Timberlake. “The first time I heard audio, post AfterMaster, I knew that I had to be a part of this company and that we had something revolutionary on our hands.”
The parent company Studio One Media was founded by Larry Ryckman in Scottsdale, Arizona, and he co-founded AfterMaster Audio Labs with music producer extraordinaire Shelly Yakus.

“We have worked for over six years to perfect AfterMaster’s technology, with the goal of truly redefining the sound experience for everyone,” says Larry Ryckman, Co-Founder and CEO of AfterMaster. “We are proud to announce Justin Timberlake as an owner—he is someone who truly understands audio and will be a key part of our team as we introduce our AfterMaster technology to the world.”
Over the years, the company grew and expanded to Hollywood where they currently have five recording and mastering studios, boardroom, lounge, production rooms and executive offices right on Sunset boulevard. The operations side of the business and a lab will continue to remain in Scottsdale.
AfterMaster Audio also has plans to integrate their technology into consumer products. Recently, AfterMaster partnered up with another local company ON Semiconductors to develop cutting–edge technology for music, television and consumer hardware products all to enhance your musical experience. The new (patent pending) technology and DSP chip is designed to generate crisp, clear sounds through products such as small speakers, headphones to computers and streaming products.

Why is this software so attractive to some of the top artists in the world? With all of the tracks and instruments used to create music, the ability to maintain the integrity, clarity and amplitude of the sounds is of the utmost importance. During production, the software an artist uses during a recording can determine the quality of the playback and ultimately the recording. The difference in AfterMaster software is that it can take a recording to greater heights in amplitude, depth and clarity without altering file size or distorting the original recording. If you want to experience the difference yourself, listen to the original recording of JT’s Holy Grail versus the one with AfterMaster here.
Stay tuned in the coming weeks as we learn more about the magic behind the music.
