Throbbing, pulsating pain, light sensitivity, nausea and blurred vision, just some of the symptoms that more than 37 million people in the US suffer from when they experience a migraine. While most people have to push through with Excedrin or meds or just curl up in a ball of pain and hope for the best-one founder decided to do something and help people, including his wife and co-founder Kerrie, relieve their debilitating headaches.
Hart Shafer, founder and CEO, Theraspecs, developed precision-tinted eyewear to manage light sensitivity and the impact of blue light on ones’ health.
Health risk fun fact: Blue light has been known to suppress the production of melatonin, effect circadian rhythms and exacerbate sleep disorders.
Shafer said that his glasses have also helped individuals with traumatic brain injury, autism syndrome, chronic fatigue or epilepsy. Today they have over six eyewear styles for indoor and outdoor and have added glasses for kids. Shafer said they have a special custom and switch out lenses in your current glasses for their TheraSpecs. Since they have partnered with the Mayo clinic, Stanford Headache Clinic and or health organizations they have seen a significant influx of customers.
