AZ Tech Council names new VP of Southern AZ Regional Office
The Arizona Technology Council announces the promotion of Alex Rodriguez to vice president of the Southern Arizona Regional Office. Rodriguez began his career with the Council in September 2012 as the office’s director, in addition to being an author, decorated military officer and leading authority on business leadership.
“Alex’s aptitude and contributions have been invaluable to the Council’s leadership team,” said Steven G. Zylstra, president and CEO of the Arizona Technology Council. “His innovative thinking and vision will continue to enhance the strategic direction and growth of our membership in Southern Arizona.”
After becoming an Army officer at age 20, Rodriguez obtained his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Arizona. Before receiving his Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Harvard University, Rodriguez worked at the Arizona State Senate, the United Nations Association in New York, and with the U.S. State Department in El Salvador. A former Term Member of the New York based Council on Foreign Relations, Rodriguez served as a U.S. Department of Defense International Policy Advisor, Country Director and Special Assistant at the Pentagon.
“I’ve been on the job for close to 24 months now and I’ve noticed an increasing attention by policymakers, business leaders and investors in the technology sector in Arizona,” said Rodriguez. “There’s a recognition that by utilizing technology, companies can leapfrog where they are in their lifecycle and market space. It’s up to us to cultivate the many smaller technology companies in Arizona into larger ones. Here in southern Arizona there’s no question in my mind that technology will help accelerate the economic growth of the region.”
