LearnVest raises $28M led by Northwestern Mutual Capital – more jobs for AZ

LearnVest, a personal financial planning platform, announced a new strategic round of funding of $28 million led by Northwestern Mutual Capital and supported by previous investors including Accel Partners. The total amount of funding raised by LearnVest now sits at a whopping $72 million.
LearnVest has offices in New York and Arizona, and is experiencing significant growth. They have a NY Times best-selling book Financially Fearless, a new SiriusXM radio show, and founder Alexa von Tobel was named a Presidential Ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship.
LearnVest will use the new funds to accelerate hiring at the company’s Arizona-based Expert Hub and to scale the company’s rapidly growing LearnVest at Work channel, which is rapidly adding access to LearnVest by the tens of thousands. LearnVest at Work is a corporate offering first rolled out last year [in partnership with Putnam and other top retirement plan providers], as LearnVest seeks to strengthen its position as the leader in the online financial planning space.
Founder and CEO Alexa von Tobel said, “LearnVest is thrilled to be a part of the Arizona tech community and to have our Expert Hub headquartered at SkySong. This announcement means that we are hiring—at all levels—even more rapidly in our Arizona offices, and we look forward to adding more impressive talent to the LearnVest team.”
The company has also developed its subscription offerings with the introduction of LearnVest Classes, a curated library of on-demand and live-streaming classes taught by LearnVest Planners. The company will also continue to consider hires to complement its senior management team, which recently added, among other notable hires, David Lennie (formerly of Netflix) as SVP of Analytics.
