Future Is Games or (FIG) is an organization dedicated to promoting educational and cultural growth using games as a medium. FIG will take place October 9th through 11th at Phoenix Convention Center and strives to expand and reach business ideals.
Zachary Snader, Director of Future Is Games, shares, “We will be hosting a showcase of local products related to both nerd culture and games. FIG will be both educational and entertaining, and our speakers represent a great mix of both local and industry-wide talent. Another great thing about having all of these people in one place is the opportunity to meet them, hang out, and get perspective on members of the industry and the kind of work they do.”
This year’s conference will feature talks from experienced developers and members of the industry, including: Ara Shirinian, Chris Toepker, Dave Lang, Raheem Jarbo, and Jason Manley. It will also feature workshops and a showcase of games and local game development culture. FIG is open to both gamers and developers and strives to bridge the gap between the audience and the creator. Play games, listen to developers talk about their trade, and engage in hands-on workshops involving games and game creation.
Snader says, “There is no sign of the game community in Phoenix slowing down. Our hope is that we can bring more developers out here and make the community as robust as it is in San Francisco.”
