Google Awards Scottsdale as Arizona’s “e-City”
Internet titan Google named Scottsdale as Arizona’s “eCity” for their first ever eCity Awards. To define, an “eCity” uses the web to amplify, improve, and spread their business. In deciding on each city, Google and research firm Ipsos “analyzed the online strength of local small business” in each state to find the strongest online business community.
Google’s director of small business engagement, Scott Levitan comments in an article by Hayley Ringle, “Scottsdale’s growth and innovation in e-commerce is an example that other cities across the state can strive to replicate. Google is proud to recognize this growing entrepreneurial spirit and the role it plays in creating jobs and sustaining local economies,”
AZTB reached out to some Scottsdale-based tech CEOs for their thoughts on the Google award.
CEO of Contatta and founder of ACT! and SalesLogix Pat Sullivan said, “Phoenix is a vibrant tech center which is ideal for startups. It has top local talent and attracts other A-players from around the country who are drawn to live and work here. Contatta is on a mission to not only improve sales peoples lives, but also help Arizona thrive.”
CEO and founder of IDS Technology Solutions, Scott Salkin adds, “This means that our ecosystem’s momentum is gaining credibility and harnessing national attention from some of the big boys in the industry. That should also mean more tech companies and tech talent taking notice of the opportunities and benefits of Arizona and more startups and funding headed to AZ.”
